Flinders Jembatan Schools Project: Learn, create and play together
The Flinders Jembatan Schools Project: Learn, create and play together aims to increase understanding of Indonesia through interactive workshops in South Australian schools.
Language and cultural workshops of one to two hours will be delivered by a team led by Flinders Indonesian Department including a visiting teacher from Bandung and Flinders Indonesian students.
The language and cultural workshops will provide students with an authentic experience of Indonesia. Workshops will be delivered in schools in small groups and designed to stimulate conversation about Indonesia.
Workshops include: Indonesian cooking, children’s games, dress-ups and story-telling; Kuda Lumping; Layang Layang; contemporary Indonesia discussion and; Indonesia conversation and colloquial Indonesia. Further workshops may be available on request. Teachers will be provided with a resource pack to support future independent workshop delivery.
Workshops are subject to availability in Term 4 2016 and cost a total of $5 / student. In line with Flinders geographical focus, schools in southern metropolitan and outer metropolitan areas are encouraged to apply.
